A New Project in the Works

I have had this fabric tucked away for a couple years just waiting for the perfect project. I decided I wanted to make something special for the kindergarten teacher at the school the kiddos go to. We have had the benefit of her teaching our children for a total of four years and I felt a quilt was just the thing. I have admired  the pinwheel sampler that Rachel of PS I Quilt did a couple years ago and think that is what I will do with this fabric.

A Little Fabric Shopping

A cousin of mine is getting married here in a couple weeks and I found this fun B&W floral print (Essentials III By Studio Fabrics) to use as the focal print in a table topper like this one. My Aunt is giving them some of her china that is a black and white design and they plan to add punches of aqua here and there in their kitchen design.

I also picked up this floral (9 by Sanae (moda)) to use in the pillow I am making for the pillow swap I have signed up to participate in.

Sunday, May 10, 2009

I had a chance to stop by the quilt shop on Tuesday when running some other errands and came away with some great fabrics. The first is a set of 10 fat quarters that is going into a quilt for a friend's daughter who is getting married next month. Not sure what design I will do but the colors are just her style. These lovely Christmas prints will go towards my project for the Christmas in July swap hosted by Linda.

Praire Paisley

After attending quilt club on Thursday afternoon I was able to get my fingers on some of this gorgeous fabric. Have loved it from the first moment I saw it but did not have the extra funds at the time. Was so excited to find it still available at my local quilt shop. This is what I plan to do with my find just as soon as I get the background fabric.

Fabric Fun

Saturday was quilt club for the "Kaleidoscope of Kolor" quilt and I took the opportunity while I was there to purchase some fabrics that were on sale. From the moment I saw these fabrics from April Cornell I had to have them for the spring swap I signed up to participate in. I thought the colors and pattern spoke nothing but "spring". Aren't they lovely. The shop was also having a sale on fat quarters and I just had to get these five from the Oh, Cherry, Oh line. I fell in love with this line the moment I saw it and knew I wanted to do this quilt from Oh, Fransson. When I saw this quilt I instantly thought, "what a great picnic quilt!" The children and I join a group of ladies from church at the park each Weds. during the summer for "Picnic in the Park" so this quilt would definitely get used. Unfortunately the shop only had these five from the line so I will have to look else where to get the rest. Following quilt club and shopping I headed over to Jo-Ann's and purchased these fabrics for Sarah and Ivy's Easter dresses. I already purchased the ties from The Children's Place in the same colors for the boys so that all four kiddos will coordinate. I am leaning towards using Simplicity's 4647 (dress C with Bodice A)for the girl's dresses but have not totally decided. I did not get much sewing done this weekend as we were getting ready for DH to head out for some training before he heads off ooverseas. But I did manage to get started on making my blocks for the Siggy Swap after DH left yesterday. Just have to add the centers to the sixty blocks and I can get them in the mail.
