join the slowely growing stack. I did not have much time to work on them yesterday but took advantage of what time I could. So now I have six of thirteen complete.

Star Blocks

Now that the butterfly quilt top is complete I am moving on to the second of three quilts request by a co-worker for her daughters for Christmas this year. We choose to do a star sampler for this one using Kate Spain's Good Fortune fabric line. I was able to get four done today and hope to knock out a few more Monday.

Happiness is...A Finished Quilt

I put the final stitch in the binding last night of Ivy's kindergarten class quilt for the school's upcoming auction. I used the pattern, "Salt Water Taffy" from the Moda Bakeshop with some adjustments to the measurements to accomidate our 6 1/2" self portrait blocks. The end result is a queen size. I took the finished quilt in this morning when I took the kiddos to school and the teacher loved it.

Pieces of Hope

I am calling this quilt such as that is the name of the fabric by Riley Blake that I am using on the back of this particular quilt. This one is for my kiddos school auction (the First grade class) and I have taken solids of the colors used in the backing fabric to put around each of the childrens self-portraits. It is going in tomorrow to the quilter.

As I have said on previous quilts like this one...I love doing these childrens quilts and seeing the personalities of each of the kiddos as I construct the quilt. So FUN

Blue and Green Butterflies

Well the top is complete at last. My first taste of needle turn applique and I must say that I quite enjoyed the challenge and look forward to another attempt soon. This will be off to the quilter shortly but in the mean time a new quilt is already in the works.

Happy Easter

The embrodiered insert was a free pattern from Kaaren of "The Painted Quilt". The Finished pillow/cushion went in the post for mum for Easter.

Butterflies

I started on this project shortly after the new year and am nearing it's completion. I have been completing about three blocks each week and have five to go but could not resist getting a start on assembling the blocks already completed. I had not done needle turn applique prior to starting this and I have really enjoyed learning how.

I am using 12 different fabrics in this quilt with 9 different butterfly designs for a total of 20 14" blocks. The final quilt will be a full size. The pattern is called pulelehua by Beyond the Reef. I picked it up at a local quilt shop but could not find it just now on the Beyond the Reef website so I am assuming they no longer carry it. If I can keep to the routine I have been on I should have this beauty ready to head to the quilter by the 1st of April.
