Patriotic Pinwheels

I have a great friend at church who has done alot for me. Her husband like mine is in the National Guard and went to Iraq a couple years ago. She has been a great support to me these last 2 months with my husband gone. I wanted to do something for her to show my appreciation for what she has done. She has a great love for Americana design and so I took some scrap I had in that style and using this design as my guide I down sized it for a table topper. I can't wait to get it quilted and see the final product, I think she will love it.

Spring Swap

I just love it when the post man rings the bell. And this morning he did just that and in his hand was the most wonderful parcel all the way from Janelle in Australia. Inside were these lovely treasures: A pretty tote, just the right size for taking my current stitching project on the go. And the fabric Janelle picked is perfect for the spring swap hosted by Linda, as tulips are my favorite spring flower. She also loaded the tote with lots of fun items. A journal to match the tote, purple scissors (just the right size for projects on the go), a bit of fabric with Pansy's, a pattern for a wall hanging and a babushka doll that Ivy Girl thinks should be hers. It was all a wonderful treat to receive today and a great pick-me up as most of the household has been down sick for the last four days. Thanks so much Janelle

Happy Easter, from our house to yours

C, I, S and I in their Easter finery prior to church this morning. As it is every year on Easter it was wind, rainy and cold...Brrrrr As I sit here the rain is coming down in buckets The girl's dresses were my main project of the week and since my other project must remain a secret for a while longer The dresses with have to do for a photo of the week. We did have a couple days at the start of the week that were just gorgeous. I took full advantage of the sunshine and got out to work in my flower beds. As you can see, the tulips have just come into full bloom and the lilacs are just about to pop forth in to full fragrence. I CAN'T WAIT!

Shangri-la Charm 2

Finally! I finally, after seven months, have this quilt finished. I took it in to be quilted on the 24th and the lady (Linda)had it done beautifully and back to me in a weeks time. Over the course of the last three days I attached and hemmed the binding as time allowed and now I am going to walk it around the block to it's new owner. YEAH!!!! another item marked off the To-Do List.

Fun Easter Sewing

Sew, Mama, Sew is doing a spring sewing feature throughout the month and for their first posting they feature Easter crafts. I, of course, had to check it out and was quite taken with Myra's Chibi Rabbit. It is so darn cute. Despite a long list of things I've got to complete prior to Easter I just had to try my hand at making a couple to include in Mum's Easter parcel. The children also got involved with the stuffing of these little bunnies. When going through my buttons I found that I only had three of the buttons I used for the eyes so I followed the example on Myra's tutorial that shows a bunny winking, how cute is that!
