Christmas Presents

I have slacked a bit on the blog but not on the projects. Here is a peek at some of the items I worked on for Christmas.
coordinating pillowcases for my girls

For a co-worker who loves frogs
 Also for co-worker
Hopscotch and Twilight for my 14 year old son who has been hinting for a couple years now that the quilt he has had since he was 3 is just too babyish

 For another co-worker
and this one is for #2 son who loves to snuggle under quitls and afghans while he reads or watches TV
I forgot to get photos of this one before packaging it for Christmas and so this is him on Christmas day. He spent the entire day wrapped in it as well as everydday since then.

Pillowcase Set

Today is one of my coworkers birthday and over the last couple weeks I have worked on putting together this set of pillowcases to give her.

Fig Tree Fabric have got to be, by far, my favorite fabrics. There has not yet been a line that I haven't loved and this group is no different. I also like that different lines coordinate so well for mixing and matching.

Child's Chair Slipcover

I have been doing quite a bit of sewing for other people the last few months. I don't usually photograph and share these projects but I could not resist with this particular one. I am not crazy about the fabric (a little too busy for my taste) that the woman selected for this project (leftover from nursery decor) but the completed slipcover is quite cute if I do say so myself.

Crayola Portfolio

The girls were invited to attend the birthday party for our friend's twin daughters who are turning 5. It was a last minute invite so I needed to come up with something quick and went with the tried and true crayola portfolio pattern.
A quick run to JoAnn fabrics and then off to the sewing machine to complete these just in time for the party.

A Tote for Jamie

Today is my boss's birthday and I decided to try out a tote pattern I have had for a few months. I found this fun fabric at JoAnn's last week and set to work on it. What a fun pattern and so quick and easy. I think I will have to do another one up for my daughter's hearing system that she totes to and from school everyday.

Spring Gathering

That is what I decided to name this quilt top that I completed this morning. I used up a bunch of scraps that I had from Heather Baily's "Nicey Jane" line. This fabric grouping just makes me think spring every time I see it. I love how this one turned out and can't wait to have it quilted and then curl up under to enjoy a book or movie.

ABC Quilt Progress

Way back in September/October I shared these two quilt squares from an ABC quilt BOM that I started through a local quilt shop. I have been remiss in sharing futher blocks from the club and thought I'd take a moment to update you on my progress.

Here is another look at blocks A and B:

And now the remaining completed blocks:

I have not yet started on June's blocks and there are a couple blocks that are partway completed that I will share when they are finished. With just July and August left of club this project should be completed in early fall. I just have to decide on how I would like to put them together.

Young Artist

Being the proud parent that I am, I just have to take a moment and share with ya'll what an amazing artis my 13-year-old son is. We have known since he was three that he had talent but he never really did much with it until this last week. Over the last week he has gotten bitten with the drawing bug and here are the results of some of his efforts.

Butterscotch

I have named this afghan such because that is the color name of the yarn I selected for it. It looks great in my family room with the Nice Jane fabrics I have been using here.

McCall's 6023

I made up this dress for Sarah yesterday using MCCall's 6023.  I made it a size larger then what she usually wears and now wish that I had not She will ave plenty of growing room butit is just a tad too much at the moment. She loves it however and just had to wear it to church today despite it's too large size.

Slip Cover

An aquaintance at church is dong some redecorating and asked me to do some sewing for her. I actually sew for her frequently. So, over the last few weeks I have done a total of 6 curtain panels, of which I did not get photos of, and a slip cover. I love doing these slip covers. I actually did one for her daughters room a couple years ago and just loved it. Some day I might actually get one made for myself. We are in the process of redoing our family room/ home office and I will finally have a designated sewing are aside from the kitchen table when it is complete. Perhaps this will be the perfect spot for a "pretty" chair.

Baby Shower Goodies

I am hosting a baby shower tonight for a new mom at church who had a precious baby boy last month and I just had to try out this tutorial for a changing mat I found here. I did change it up a bit by adding binding to the edging rather then finishing out the way it stated and the end result is fabulous. I also made a couple coordinating burp cloths to go with it.
