Not so Ordinary

I received a baby shower invite in the mail last Sat. for a shower that took place yesterday. I love baby showers and making gifts for them. In my search for ideas for the shower I came across this and had fun turning two ordinary onseis into these, the hit of the shower. I have also used Jody's tutorial several times for turning ordinary cloth diapers into cute burp towels. Using the left over fabric from this little overall I made this set of three burp towels. Also in the works this last week was canning pear sauce...YUM and putting in tile in the entryway in preparation for new carpet that is being put in tomorrow. The tiling was a new experience for me and although very nervous at first I am feeling a bit more confident with the process. The entryway was just a small job but it has left me feeling like I could tackle the family room without too much trouble. On a sad note for the week, two soldiers from my husband's unit were killed this week in Iraq. One was a very dear friend of my husband and it was so hard to receive a call from him last night. Hard to hear your loved one sobbing on the phone and being unable to offer the confort you know he needs. Our thoughts and prayers are with both families.

Threw these jumpers together for the girls early in the week using Newlook's 0557. Did not like how short the pattern was however and so I lengthened them a bit. The fabric is a pinwale corduroy I found at Jo-Ann Fabrics. Withit's design of apples and pears andlate summer flowers I thought it perfect for fall.

Seperation Anxiety

I am in need of some advice. We have a sweet, wonderful dog named Annie. She is 3 years old and we have had her since she was 6-weeks old. She has til now been the best dog ever. In June the kiddos and I took a little trip to visit some relatives and left a friend here at the house to house/dog sit. One day while this friend was out and about Annie chewed her way through our brand new gate and got out to "Look" for us. Since this time she has found other ways of "breaking out" to search for us when the children and I leave the house. Recently breaking out screens in windows. She has always as I said been a really good dog and I am pretty frustrated by this new behavior. As punishment I have been chaining her up, something we have never done, for a period of time but that does not seem to be working. I assume most of this has been brought on by the fact that my husband is deployed and then the children and I went on the trip. I wish she could understand my words and know that we would never leave her but of course she cannot. So I have got to find a way to help her understand and to get this behavior nipped. Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly welcomed. We love our Annie and worry about her.

In the works

Just a little look at what is currently in my "on the go" project bag. Was busy making a spur of the moment trip to the coast today to pick up some fresh tuns and then started the process of canning it so not too much to show yet on the project. Tomorrow will be more canning and not much stitching.

Starling Handbag and a Skirt

Found the pattern for this handbag via this, my new favorite blog to check out. It was a breeze to make. I love the color I selected although it reminded me od a stick of gum the whole time I was working on it. Just have to line it and it will be ready to use. Last night I whipped this skirt together for Sarah. I used Simplicity's 4669 and the rements of some Hiedi Grace fabric that I used a while back for a skirt for a friend. Sarah is thrilled with it and did her show and tell routine at church this morning with anyone who'd pay attention. Wish all my kiddos were as easy to please as she is.
